🐰 The Cleverness of the Rabbit 🧠
In a vast and lively forest filled with tall trees and flowing streams, animals of every kind lived together. But their peaceful life was disturbed by a fierce lion named Veer. He was powerful, proud, and feared by all. Every day, he hunted many animals, often killing more than he needed.
The frightened animals gathered one evening to find a solution. “If this continues,” said a trembling deer, “none of us will survive.”
After long discussion, they decided to approach the lion with a proposal. The next morning, a group of animals stood before Veer and said respectfully, “O King of the Forest, we accept your strength. But if you hunt freely every day, we will all perish. Instead, we promise to send one animal to you daily. In return, please do not hunt unnecessarily.”
The lion agreed, pleased with the arrangement. From that day, one animal was chosen by turn to sacrifice itself.
One unfortunate day, it was a small rabbit’s turn. The rabbit was tiny compared to the lion, and the other animals felt sorry for him. But the rabbit remained calm.
On his way to the lion’s cave, the rabbit walked slowly and thoughtfully. He realized that if he simply went to the lion, he would surely die. “Strength cannot defeat strength,” he thought. “But perhaps intelligence can.”
Instead of reaching on time, the rabbit deliberately delayed his arrival. By the time he reached the cave, the sun was high, and the lion was furious with hunger.
“Why are you so late?” roared the lion. “And how dare they send such a small creature to satisfy my hunger?”
The rabbit bowed respectfully and said, “Your Majesty, I was not alone. Five rabbits were sent for you today. But on our way, another lion attacked us. He claimed that he is the true king of this forest.”
The lion’s eyes burned with anger. “Another lion? In my territory? Show me where he is!”
The rabbit nodded and led the lion deep into the forest. He brought him to an old well filled with clear water. The rabbit pointed inside and said, “He lives here, my lord. He challenged your authority.”
The lion looked into the well and saw his own reflection staring back at him. Mistaking it for a rival lion, he roared loudly. The reflection roared back.
Blinded by anger and pride, the lion leaped into the well to attack his enemy. But there was no enemy—only water. The mighty lion fell in and struggled to climb out. His strength was useless against the deep, slippery walls.
The rabbit watched from a safe distance. After some time, the forest became silent. The lion could not escape.
The rabbit returned to the forest and told the animals what had happened. At first, they could not believe it. But when they saw that the lion never returned, joy spread throughout the forest.
The small rabbit had succeeded where no strong animal could. His intelligence had freed them from fear.
The animals celebrated and praised the rabbit’s wisdom. From that day forward, they lived peacefully without the constant threat of the lion.
The rabbit did not boast about his achievement. He simply said, “When faced with great danger, keep your mind calm. Intelligence can overcome even the strongest force.”
The forest remained safe, and the story of the clever rabbit was told for generations as an example of bravery and smart thinking.
