🐍 The Marriage with the Snake 💍
Long ago, in a small village surrounded by green fields and flowing rivers, there lived a poor farmer and his wife. They worked hard every day in their small field, growing crops and taking care of their animals. Although they lived a simple life, they were kind and honest people.
The farmer and his wife had one sorrow in their lives. They had no children. Many years had passed, and still their house remained quiet and empty. Often the farmer’s wife prayed to the heavens, hoping for a child who could bring happiness into their home.
One day, while the farmer was working in his field, he noticed a small snake coming out of a hole near the edge of the land. At first he stepped back in fear, but the snake did not try to harm him. Instead, it quietly sat near the hole and looked at him calmly.
The farmer thought for a moment and said softly, “Perhaps this snake is the guardian spirit of my field. Maybe it protects my crops from harm.”
From that day on, the farmer began placing a small bowl of milk near the snake’s hole every morning. The snake would come out quietly, drink the milk, and return to its home. The farmer believed this act would bring good fortune.
Surprisingly, after this began, the farmer’s crops grew better than ever. The plants were greener, and the harvest was plentiful. The farmer became convinced that the snake truly brought good luck.
When the farmer told his wife about the snake, she also began to respect it. Soon both of them believed that the snake was like a blessing sent to them.
Years passed, and one day the farmer said thoughtfully, “We have no son or daughter. What will happen to our home and land after we grow old?”
After thinking for a long time, he made a strange decision.
“If the snake is truly our protector,” he said, “then it is like a son to us. Perhaps we should treat it as part of our family.”
The farmer’s wife was surprised but trusted her husband’s belief.
In the same village lived a poor man with a kind and gentle daughter. She was known for her patience and respect for elders. The farmer visited that family and spoke about his unusual idea.
“I wish for your daughter to marry my son,” he said.
“But I heard you have no son,” the man replied in confusion.
The farmer hesitated before explaining the truth. “The snake in my field is like my son. I wish your daughter to marry him.”
The man was shocked. At first he refused, but the farmer spoke about the snake’s peaceful nature and the good fortune it had brought to the farm.
When the daughter heard about the proposal, she surprised everyone with her answer.
“If my parents agree,” she said calmly, “I will accept it. I believe kindness and faith can bring unexpected blessings.”
Soon a simple wedding ceremony was held. The villagers whispered and wondered about the strange marriage. The young woman moved into the farmer’s house and treated the snake with respect and care.
Every day she placed milk near the snake’s hole and spoke kindly to it. She never showed fear or anger.
One night, something extraordinary happened.
As the moonlight filled the room, the snake suddenly transformed into a handsome young man. The woman was shocked, but the young man spoke gently.
“I am not truly a snake,” he said. “I am a prince who was cursed long ago. I was forced to live in the form of a snake until someone treated me with true kindness and respect.”
The woman’s patience and goodness had finally broken the curse.
The prince thanked the farmer and his wife for their kindness over the years. Soon the news spread throughout the village. What once seemed like a strange and foolish decision had turned into a great blessing.
The farmer’s home was no longer lonely. The prince and his wife lived happily with the old couple, bringing joy and prosperity to their house.
The villagers often spoke about this unusual story. It reminded them that kindness and faith can lead to unexpected miracles.
