🐦 The Lapwing and the Sea 🌊
Long ago, near the wide shore of a great ocean, there lived a small bird called the lapwing. The lapwing and her mate made their home close to the sandy beach. They loved the peaceful sound of the waves and the gentle sea breeze.
Every day the couple flew over the shore, searching for food and enjoying the beauty of the coastline. Although they were small birds, they were brave and hardworking.
One season, the lapwing prepared to lay her eggs. She carefully searched for a safe place on the sand to build her nest.
But her mate felt worried.
“The sea comes very close to the shore,” he said. “If the waves grow strong, they may carry away our eggs.”
The female lapwing replied confidently, “Do not worry. The sea is vast, but it will not dare to challenge us.”
Even though her mate still felt uncertain, he trusted her and helped build the nest.
Soon the lapwing laid her eggs in the soft sand near the water.
However, the sea had been listening to their conversation.
The mighty ocean felt insulted by the bird’s words.
“How dare such a tiny creature challenge my power?” the sea murmured angrily.
One night, while the birds were away searching for food, the sea sent a strong wave rolling toward the shore.
The powerful water washed over the sand and carried the lapwing’s eggs deep into the ocean.
When the lapwing returned and saw her empty nest, she was heartbroken.
She cried loudly and searched the beach again and again, but the eggs were gone.
Her mate realized what had happened.
“The sea has taken them,” he said sadly.
The lapwing became determined.
“If the sea has taken our eggs, then we will empty the sea itself,” she declared.
Her mate was surprised.
“How can we empty such a vast ocean?” he asked.
But the lapwing remained firm.
“Even if it takes our entire lives, we will try,” she said.
The two birds began their effort immediately.
They flew to the shore, dipped their small beaks into the water, and carried tiny drops of seawater away, dropping them far from the ocean.
The other birds watched them with curiosity.
Some laughed at their attempt.
“How can two small birds empty the sea?” they joked.
But the lapwing continued working tirelessly.
Her determination inspired other birds.
Soon sparrows, parrots, cranes, and many other birds joined the effort. They all began carrying drops of seawater away from the ocean.
The news of this strange mission spread across the skies.
Finally, the mighty eagle, the king of birds, heard about the lapwing’s struggle.
He flew down to the shore and asked, “Why are all of you trying to empty the sea?”
The lapwing explained how the ocean had taken her eggs.
The eagle was deeply moved by her courage and determination.
He said, “No injustice should go unanswered. I will help you.”
The eagle then flew high into the heavens and informed the divine powers about the sea’s arrogance.
Fearing the anger of the king of birds, the sea quickly became afraid.
The ocean realized that it had underestimated the determination of the small lapwing.
Immediately, the sea returned the stolen eggs safely to the shore.
When the lapwing saw her eggs again, she was filled with joy.
All the birds celebrated her bravery.
Even the mighty ocean learned an important lesson that day.
It understood that even the smallest creature can achieve great things with courage and determination.
Determination and unity can overcome even the greatest challenges.
