The Pigeons and the Mice

In a peaceful forest not far from a small village, there lived a large flock of pigeons. They flew together in the sky, searching for food and water, and always stayed united. Their leader was a wise pigeon named Chitra, who guided them with intelligence and care.

The pigeons trusted Chitra completely because he always made decisions that kept them safe. He often reminded them, “Unity is our greatest strength. As long as we stay together, no danger can defeat us.”

One day, while flying over the forest, the pigeons spotted grains scattered on the ground. The grains looked fresh and plentiful, shining under the sunlight.

The pigeons grew excited. “Look at all that food!” they cried. “Let us go down and eat.”

However, Chitra sensed something unusual. “Be careful,” he warned. “Food lying openly like this may be a trap.”

But the pigeons were very hungry. They could not resist the temptation. “We have been flying for so long,” they said. “Surely, nothing will happen.”

Ignoring their leader’s warning, they quickly flew down and began pecking at the grains.

Suddenly, a net hidden beneath the grains rose up and trapped all of them. The pigeons panicked. They flapped their wings wildly, but the net held them tightly.

“We are trapped!” they cried. “What shall we do?”

Chitra remained calm. “Do not panic,” he said firmly. “If we struggle individually, we will fail. But if we work together, we can escape.”

The pigeons listened carefully. “What should we do?” they asked.

Chitra replied, “On my signal, all of you flap your wings together and lift the net into the air. We will carry it away from here.”

At first, the pigeons were unsure. “Can we really lift the net?” they wondered.

“Trust me,” said Chitra. “Unity will give us strength.”

The pigeons gathered their courage. On Chitra’s signal, they flapped their wings at the same time. Slowly, the net began to rise.

The hunter, who had set the trap, saw this and ran toward them. But before he could reach them, the pigeons flew up into the sky, carrying the net with them.

They flew far away until they reached a safe place near a large tree. Under that tree lived a group of mice led by a clever mouse named Moosu.

Chitra called out, “Friend Moosu, please come out. We need your help.”

Hearing his friend’s voice, Moosu came out of his hole. He was surprised to see the pigeons trapped in a net.

“What happened?” he asked.

Chitra explained everything. “We fell into a trap, but we managed to escape by working together. Now we need your help to cut this net.”

Moosu immediately agreed. “Do not worry,” he said. “We will free you.”

He called all his fellow mice. Together, they began to gnaw at the ropes of the net with their sharp teeth.

Moosu first went to Chitra and began cutting the ropes around him.

But Chitra stopped him. “No, my friend,” he said. “Please free my companions first. A leader must always think of his followers before himself.”

Moosu was impressed by Chitra’s selflessness. He nodded and instructed the mice to free the other pigeons first.

One by one, the pigeons were freed from the net. Finally, Moosu cut the last rope, and Chitra was also set free.

The pigeons were overjoyed. They thanked the mice again and again for their kindness and help.

“We could not have escaped without you,” Chitra said gratefully.

Moosu smiled and replied, “And you could not have reached here without your unity. This is the power of teamwork and friendship.”

The pigeons learned a valuable lesson that day. They realized that ignoring wise advice can lead to danger, but unity and cooperation can overcome even the greatest difficulties.

From then on, they always listened to their leader and stayed united. They also strengthened their friendship with the mice, knowing that true friends help each other in times of need.

The story of the pigeons and the mice spread far and wide, teaching everyone the importance of unity, leadership, and true friendship.

Moral:

Unity is strength, and true friends always help each other in times of need.
